Ramsey and District U3A

UNIVERSITY OF THE THIRD AGE NEWSLETTER

The Chairman and Committee of the R&D U3A wish all our members a merry Christmas and a very happy New Year.

Our Chairman welcomed members to the Christmas party, by wishing all a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year. The usual housekeeping notices were read out and our entertainer Chris Bylett and his wife Gina were introduced.

Shortly after 2.00pm and with all our members seated and drinks to hand, the food on the tables was uncovered and the party began. Two themed quizzes were on each table, for members to attempt during the afternoon. The sandwiches, etc were purchased from the Barley Mow Hartford and received good reviews from our members.

By 2.30pm, we were ready to be entertained by Chris and two extra guests. Charlie the boy and Desmond Duck – two ventriloquist dummies which were part of the act. Chris told us something of his career in the entertainment industry and told a few jokes to break the ice, before bringing out Charlie to assist him in his act. More jokes to keep us laughing, before Desmond Duck made his appearance and had us enjoying more jokes and fun.

Chris’s session ended him playing on his twelve-string guitar accompanied by Gina, with favourite songs from days gone by including ‘Puff the magic dragon’ and ‘The Irish Rover’ with our members joining in.

The chairman then thanked Chris, Gina, Charlie and Desmond for a most entertaining afternoon and wished all the members the seasons’ greetings
