Patchwork & Quilting – Advanced Course
The advanced Patchwork and Quilting Group meet on the fourth Wednesday of each month from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm.
Members are often involved in their own projects as well as working on the same task. The variety of their completed work is a testament to their use of colour, design and personal flair.
During the year we also have visits from Katy who kindly teaches us new and up to date quilting and patchwork methods.
Recently the Patchwork and Quilting group were asked to contribute to a humanitarian relief programme by making quilts for young adult Syrian refugees who have come to this country. They arrive with very few, if any, possessions and making them a gift of a quilt of their own means that have something to take with them wherever they go.
Another name for a quilt is a comforter and what better gift can we give than that of comfort to the oppressed and needy. Twelve quilts were made and sent to a local church for distribution to refugees in Manchester. Below are some of the quilt tops that were made from fabric donated by our quilt group members who were thanked for their generosity in materials and time that they contributed to the project.
